The chemical, biological and radiological safety and security unit held a seminar entitled : (Linear accelerator principles and medical and industrial applications)

The seminar showed: the knowledge of the work of the linear accelerator, which is one of the most important devices used in radiation therapy for cancerous tumors

Objectives : 1. Definition of the physical principle of the linear accelerator and the mechanism of Ray Production. 2. Elucidation of medical applications of the accelerator in radiation therapy of tumors. 3. Highlighting the industrial uses of linear accelerators in the fields of Non-Destructive Testing and sterilization. 4. Spreading awareness of the importance of radiation safety procedures in the radiation work environment

Recommendations: 1. Emphasizing the importance of introducing the topic of linear accelerators within the school curricula in the specialties of Radiology and medical physics. 2. Encouraging students and researchers to conduct applied studies on improving the efficiency of accelerators in the medical and industrial fields. 3. The need to provide practical training programs for students of Radiology techniques on the principle of operation of accelerators and the foundations of radiation safety associated with it
