The Medical Technical Institute / Mosul organizes a workshop entitled “The Mind is a fortress of safety” as part of the awareness strategy to combat intellectual extremism and violence
Under the patronage of the president of the northern Technical University, Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the dean of the Medical Technical Institute/Mosul, assistant professor Dr. Mohammed Fadel Haddad, the psychological counseling and university guidance unit in cooperation with the Department of anesthesia techniques organized a workshop entitled
“The mind is a fortress of safety” within the strategies of preventing violent extremism leading to terrorism.
The workshop was attended by assistant teacher Ahmed Abdul Razzak and Mr. Falah Hassan Ibrahim / chemical assistant, where the workshop dealt with the importance of the conscious mind as an impervious shield against deviant thought and extremism, and what it represents of a fortress of intellectual and psychological safety through instilling the concepts of tolerance, dialogue, moderation, renunciation of violence, in addition to promoting national belonging and spreading the culture of critical thinking and self-awareness among students.
At the end of the workshop, a number of recommendations were emphasized, most notably:
. To instill the values of moderation and renounce violence in all its forms.
. Promote national belonging and self-awareness among university youth.
. Conducting continuous educational workshops and programs on the dangers of extremist thought.
. Activating the role of psychological counselors in monitoring and treating negative intellectual behaviors.
This workshop comes within the series of programs of the University psychological counseling and Guidance Unit aimed at spreading health, intellectual and psychological awareness in the university environment, and building a conscious generation and believing that the mind is a bulwark of safety against extremism and delinquency.
