The visit was part of monitoring the unified ministerial curriculum in private colleges for medical specialties covered by the ministerial examination for the academic year 2023-2024 within the geographical area of Nineveh Governorate. The committee visited Alnoor University, where Dr. Yassin Taha Al-Hajjar, the university president, welcomed them. The committee members included:

  1. It is recommended to avoid consuming any herb without knowing its components.

  2. When using herbs or medicinal plants, consult with experts rather than relying on social media sources.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadhil Haddad, the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul, had the honor of hosting Dr. Basil Khalaf Himood, the President of the Academics Syndicate / Nineveh Branch, in his office. They discussed several important matters, including:

*Supporting Academics at Our Institute.

*Activating the Scientific Research System through Academics.

They also deliberated on how to activate the role of the Academics Syndicate in hosting its members in the institute council. It included clarifying the roles and responsibilities of the academics’ representative within the council.

Furthermore, they addressed the role of the syndicate in obtaining the rights of academics in higher education institutions regarding plots of land. They discussed the facilitations provided by the Academics Syndicate to faculty members affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research across various institutions and administrative regions of the country.

The Radiology Techniques Department conducted a scientific workshop submitted by:

The workshop discussed the most significant risks of addiction and drugs on adolescents and how to overcome these risks.

Objectives

  1. Introducing adolescents to drugs and their risks to the body.

  2. Assisting adolescents in drug prevention by discussing the consequences of drug use and emphasizing the importance of making the right decision.

  3. Providing advice for current drug users from people or places associated with drug use.

  4. Encouraging regular exercise and relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and meditation, to reduce stress and psychological pressure.

Recommendations:

  1. Pay attention to the places frequented by adolescents, identify the activities supervised by adults that interest them, and encourage participation in positive ones.

  2. Leave events where drug use is prevalent and avoid riding with drivers who use drugs.

  3. Monitoring prescribed medications and recording quantities of both prescribed and over-the-counter drugs at home.

  4. Praise and encourage adolescents when they achieve success. A strong parent-child relationship can protect against drug use.

  5. Steer clear of illegal drugs.

  6. Observing the sudden changes in friends, repeated requests for money, and withdrawal from family.

  7. Despite no complaints of illness, be mindful of the presence of medication containers or drug-related paraphernalia in your adolescent’s room.

The pharmacy techniques department organized a scientific symposium entitled “The Risks of Cholera Spread in the Community: Causes and Prevention Methods” presented by: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebtisam Nathim Hazim.

The symposium includes:

Detailed Introduction to Cholera Bacteria, the symptoms of cholera, epidemiological Outbreaks of Cholera in Iraq and Cholera Prevention Methods.

Objectives:

  1. Assess the severity of infection with pathogenic bacteria.

  2. Recognize the accompanying symptoms in individuals with cholera.

  3. Understand the necessary measures to limit the spread of cholera.

  4. Learn about preventive measures to safeguard against cholera.

Recommendations:

raising awareness about basic health practices and ensuring compliance with them. These practices should be conveyed through awareness campaigns organized by the university. Key aspects of these recommendations include: personal hygiene; handwashing; safe drinking water and avoiding exposed and contaminated food.

The Dean of the Medical Technical Institute of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Fadhil Haddad, in presence of the assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, held a meeting with students’ representatives from all study levels. The purpose of the meeting was to understand the issues and challenges the students face in their academic journey.

His Excellency emphasized the importance of the representatives in conveying the directives of the administration to the students, encouraging them to improve their academic and educational performance. He also stressed the significance of attending both theoretical and practical lectures, actively participating in-class and out-of-class activities, and engaging in volunteer work.

In line with the principle of scientific cooperation between the Northern Technical University and the University of Mosul, the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques / Medical Technical Institute of Mosul welcomed the teaching staff and students of the College of Science / University of Mosul. They were welcomed by Dr. Omar Dalal Bashi, the assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Rana Salal Hassan, the Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, along with several other faculty members. During the visit, the students were introduced to the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques and the types of educational tests conducted by the department.

Upon concluding the visit, they expressed their sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and the valuable scientific insights gained from the visit.
