The Department of Pharmacy Techniques is one of the main scientific departments at the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul. It was established in 1995 AD within the building of the Pathological Analyses Department, with the aim of preparing specialized technical cadres in the field of pharmacy to work in various health institutions.
The department awards its graduates a Technical Diploma in Pharmacy after a course of study lasting two qualifying years. The program focuses on the practical and applied aspect by approximately 60% of the curriculum requirements, in addition to summer training in health and pharmaceutical institutions to complete the professional qualification requirements. Graduates hold the job title of Assistant Pharmacist.
As for the Medical Technical Institute in Mosul, it was established in 1980 with a single department and was affiliated with the Foundation of Technical Institutes. Upon the establishment of the Northern Technical University in 2014, the institute became part of the Technical Institute in Mosul, and later became independent as a separate entity under the name of the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul in 2023. It currently comprises eight medical departments, including the Department of Pharmacy Techniques.
