The Medical Technical Institute / Mosul holds a scientific course entitled
“Microbiological contaminants in food”
Under the patronage of the president of the northern Technical University, Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the dean of the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul, assistant professor Dr. Mohammed Fadel Haddad, the Institute held a specialized scientific course entitled:
“Microbiological contaminants in food”
This is within the framework of its efforts to enhance health and food awareness, and to raise the scientific and knowledge level of the Institute’s students and employees in the fields of food safety and public health.
The lectures of the course were delivered by:
1. Assistant professor Dr. Suhail Jawdat Fadel
2. Assistant teacher Samar Mahmoud Fathi
3. Assistant teacher Jalal Mohammad Zahdi Jalal
The course dealt with a number of important scientific topics, including:
Definition of the most important microbiological contaminants that infect food.
Sources of food pollution and ways of its transmission to humans.
Health effects and diseases caused by contaminated food.
Modern laboratory methods in the detection of microbial contaminants.
Methods of prevention and control of pollution in accordance with approved sanitary standards.
Course objectives:
Dissemination of health culture related to food safety.
Enhance students ‘ scientific knowledge about the risks of microbial contamination.
Development of analytical and diagnostic skills in food laboratories.
Linking theoretical aspects with practical applications in the fields of Public Health.
Course recommendations:
1. Emphasize compliance with food safety procedures in health and food institutions.
2. The need to conduct periodic food inspections to reduce the spread of foodborne diseases.
3. Adoption of modern laboratory methods in the diagnosis of microbiological contaminants.
4. Strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and food safety regulatory authorities.
5. Continue to hold scientific courses and workshops that contribute to raising health awareness in the community.
This course comes as part of the targeted scientific activities that the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul continues to organize, in confirmation of its academic and societal role in preparing competent health cadres to serve the community according to solid scientific foundations.
