Health and Psychological Hazards of Smoking

Career Development Centre (CDC) at the Medical Technical Institute of Mosul organized a scientific symposium entitled (Health and Psychological Hazards of Smoking)

The symposium was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar, the President of Northern Technical University, and the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadhil Haddad, the Dean of Medical Technical Institute / Mosul. CDC, in collaboration with the Department of Nursing Techniques, organized a scientific symposium entitled (Health and Psychological Hazards of Smoking)

The lecture was delivered by

Asst. Prof. Khalida Naif Mustafa.

The symposium included the following points:

Smoking is one of the worst health habits that leads to addiction due to the Nicotine content in tobacco. It has negative effects on both physical and mental health, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and more.

Symposium Objectives:

  1. Raise awareness about the physical and psychological hazards of smoking.

  2. Familiarize participants with key global statistics related to public health.

  3. Introduce the negative effects of passive smoking.

Symposium Recommendations:

  • Promote abstinence from smoking.

  • Stay away from smokers.

  • Treat smoking addiction using healthy methods.
