Medical Technical Institute of Mosul organized a symposium entitled (Cystic Fibrosis and Its Causes)

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar, the President of Northern Technical University, and the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadhil Haddad, the Dean of Medical Technical Institute / Mosul. The Career Development Centre organized the symposium in collaboration with the Department of Medical Laboratories Techniques.

The presenters were:

The symposium discussed the following points:

  1. Understanding Cystic Fibrosis: Its signs and symptoms.

  2. Identifying risk factors and complications related to the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems.

  3. Learning about preventive measures.

Symposium Objectives:

  1. Provide individuals with cystic fibrosis the information they need to make care choices.

  2. Offer doctors treatments aimed at alleviating symptoms when intensive treatments are no longer beneficial.

Symposium Recommendations:

  • Conduct genetic testing and screening for newborns and carriers.

  • Administer routine vaccinations and use antibiotics and inhaled medications to thin airway secretions.

  • Take pancreatic enzyme supplements and vitamins and follow a high-calorie diet.
