Mosul Medical Technical Institute organized a scientific workshop titled “Risks of Addiction and Drugs”
Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar, and the supervision of the Dean of Mosul Medical Technical Institute, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadhil Haddad.

The workshop discussed the most significant risks of addiction and drugs on adolescents and how to overcome these risks.
Objectives

Introducing adolescents to drugs and their risks to the body.

Assisting adolescents in drug prevention by discussing the consequences of drug use and emphasizing the importance of making the right decision.

Providing advice for current drug users from people or places associated with drug use.

Encouraging regular exercise and relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and meditation, to reduce stress and psychological pressure.
Recommendations:

Pay attention to the places frequented by adolescents, identify the activities supervised by adults that interest them, and encourage participation in positive ones.

Leave events where drug use is prevalent and avoid riding with drivers who use drugs.

Monitoring prescribed medications and recording quantities of both prescribed and over-the-counter drugs at home.

Praise and encourage adolescents when they achieve success. A strong parent-child relationship can protect against drug use.

Steer clear of illegal drugs.

Observing the sudden changes in friends, repeated requests for money, and withdrawal from family.

Despite no complaints of illness, be mindful of the presence of medication containers or drug-related paraphernalia in your adolescent’s room.
