Department History

The Department of Anesthesia Techniques is one of the leading and long-standing medical scientific departments at the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul. Its foundational roots date back to the academic year 1977 / 1978, when it was initially affiliated with the Higher Institute of Health in Mosul. The department welcomed its first cohort of students in 1978 and proudly celebrated their graduation into the healthcare sector in the academic year 1980 / 1981.

The department awards its graduates a Technical Diploma in Anesthesia Techniques following a rigorous two-year qualifying program. The curriculum places a heavy emphasis on practical and applied training, supplemented by summer training in hospitals and healthcare institutions to fulfill professional qualification requirements. This ensures the preparation of specialized technical cadres equipped to work efficiently in operating rooms and intensive care units, with graduates holding the job title of “Anesthesia Technician.”

In alignment with the administrative advancements in educational institutions, the department has continuously progressed alongside the Medical Technical Institute / Mosul (which was established as an independent formation in 2023 under the umbrella of the Northern Technical University), standing today as one of the most prominent specialized medical departments supplying the healthcare sector with highly skilled professionals
