The department was established in the academic year 1975–1976 under the supervision of the Ministry of Health (The General Organization for Health Education and Training).
Its affiliation was transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the academic year 1988–1989 under the name “Department of Health Technologies,” and the name was subsequently amended to “Community Health Technologies” in the academic year 1990–1991. The department awards a technical diploma after training students through an educational system that integrates both theoretical and practical aspects, aiming to supply hospitals and health centers with qualified and competent scientific personnel. Graduates are awarded the titles of “Medical Assistant” and “Preventive Assistant.”
